The Treasury Gardens will come to life with music, dance and storytelling on January 26, 2010 for the Songlines Share the Spirit festival.

With a line-up headed by none other than local rock ‘n’ roll hip-swinger, Dan Sultan, Share the Spirit boasts an eclectic program of established and emerging local artists performing side-by-side at Victoria’s premiere Indigenous music festival.

This year’s lineup includes Melbourne based singer-songwriter, Deline Briscoe; the Aces Choir headed by local legends Joe Geia and Lou Bennett; soulful country-rock guitarist, Lee Morgan; Payback Records and 2009 Deadly Award Nominees local hip-hop rousers, Tjimba and the Yung Warriors; Djopla McKenzie from the Top End; and the prolific, Richard Frankland with the Charcoal Club.

Share the Spirit 2010 will also include a youth area hosting traditional dance and hip-hop workshops and showcases, as well a dedicated program of Children’s Cultural Activities.

Taking place every year on Australia Day – otherwise known as ‘Survival Day’ – Share the Spirit has been created by Aboriginal people for all Australians to come together and celebrate the country’s Indigenous culture through music, performance workshops, information stalls, and most importantly through personal exchanges between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.

On top of the non-stop music, Share the Spirit will also host community market stalls where Indigenous artists and designers from all over Victoria will be selling locally made crafts, traditional artefacts, t-shirts, bags, CDs, photographs and paintings.

Share the Spirit is presented by Songlines Aboriginal Music Corporation and is proudly supported by the City of Melbourne.
